Government identifies six settlements for complex reconstruction following new principles

The government has identified six settlements where reconstruction will be carried out comprehensively and according to new principles as part of a pilot project.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, said this at a government meeting, Ukrinform reports.

"Six settlements have been identified where reconstruction will be carried out comprehensively and according to new principles within the pilot project. These are Borodianka and Moshchun in the Kyiv region, Trostianets in the Sumy region, Posad-Pokrovske in the Kherson region, Tsyrkuny in the Kharkiv region, and Yahidne in the Chernihiv region," Shmyhal said.

According to him, all these settlements have suffered terrible destruction. Now the authorities are starting to rebuild them on the build back better principle."

The Prime Minister added that this means that they will rebuild not  individual buildings and structures but everything - with a systematic approach, new planning and complete transformation of these settlements.

The implementation of the pilot project, Shmyhal clarified, does not mean that other settlements will not be restored. Reconstruction is already underway across the country. This document is about finding the most effective approaches that will ensure transparency, efficiency, consistency, and speed of recovery at the same time.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Prime Minister emphasized that the reconstruction of Ukraine is the most ambitious project of the 21 stcentury which opens up great opportunities and prospects for business.
