The Russian invaders' construction of fortifications in the temporarily occupied Crimea indicates not only preparations for the Ukrainian counter-offensive but also the occupiers' desire to launder money.

The Head of the Joint Press Center of the Operational Command "South" Nataliia Humeniuk said this on the air of the national telethon "United News", Ukrinform reports.

"The bureaucratic potential that has been accumulated in Crimea and felt quite calm during the annexation realizes that it is time to pack up, and they try to launder money in the end. Where a lot of money is allocated for defense facilities, they can turn some money in their favor by imitating this activity, realizing its pointlessness," said Humeniuk.

She also said that intercepts of Ukrainian intelligence confirm the occupiers' fears of the Ukrainian army's advance to the peninsula. In particular, they complain to their relatives about the inevitable offensive and the arrival of the Defense Forces.
