Ukrainian troops repel 53 enemy attacks, fierce battles for Bakhmut ongoing

This is stated in the report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06:00, April 22, published on Facebook.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched five strikes on the concentration areas of the occupiers, while missile and artillery units hit two areas of concentration of manpower, an anti-aircraft missile system, and two more important military objects of the enemy," the report reads.

Instead, the enemy launched three missile strikes, 30 airstrikes, 50 MLRS attacks over the past day.

The main efforts of the enemy are focused on offensive operations in Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk directions – 53 enemy attacks were repelled. The city of Bakhmut remains at the epicenter of military operations.

The operational situation in Volyn and Polissia directions has not changed significantly. Certain units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine. Some units of the territorial troops of the Russian armed forces are stationed in the territory of Belarus.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy continues to keep a certain number of its troops in Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine. Over the past day, the Russians shelled Leonivka and Hremyach in Chernihiv region; Shalyhine, Volfyne, Kindrativka in Sumy region; Hoptivka and Vovchanski Khutory in Kharkiv region.

In Kupyansk direction, the enemy made an attempt to improve its tactical position, carried out assault near the settlement of Lyman Pershyi, but was unsuccessful. Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kotliarivka, Berestove in Kharkiv region came under enemy fire.

In Lyman direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations towards Bilohorivka. Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Ivanivka, Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Zvanivka in Donetsk region were hit with artillery.

Fierce battles for the city of Bakhmut are ongoing in Bakhmut direction. The enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations outside Hryhorivka and Bohdanivka. Rozdolivka, Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora, Dyliyivka, Zalizne, Pivnichne, Pivdenne, and New York in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive operations in the areas of Novokalynove, Stepove, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske but had no success. Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevelske and other settlements in Donetsk region were struck.

In Marinka direction, enemy attacks were repelled near Marinka. Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Vuhledar. Prechystivka, Novoukrayinka, Zolota Nyva, and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy continues to hold the defense. Over the past day, the invaders launched mortar and artillery attacks on populated settlements, including Olhivske, Pavlivka, Malynivka, Huliaypole, Huliaypilske, Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Antonivka and Kherson in Kherson region.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. On April 17, the enemy tried to carry out a medical evacuation from the temporarily occupied Luhansk region towards the settlement of Urazovo, Belgorod region. Fourteen trucks were used to transport the wounded occupiers. When attempting to cross the State Border of Ukraine into the territory of the Russian Federation, the Russian side did not let the military convoy pass and turned it back for certain reasons. It is known that during the mentioned movement some of the enemy servicemen did not survive due to the lack of proper medical care. Another part of the seriously wounded invaders, more than 50 people, was transported to the Troitske central district hospital.
