Ukraine repels over 70 Russian attacks in four directions

The enemy suffers considerable losses, but continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka directions.

This is stated in the morning update delivered by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy is actively employing tactical and army aviation. Over the past day, more than 70 enemy attacks have been repelled in these areas of the front. Bakhmut and Maryinka remain at the epicenter of the fighting," the military said.

In total, the enemy launched four missile and 41 air strikes, also 57 times launching MLRS salvos at Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian infrastructure. There are casualties among the civilian population.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

"Over the past day, Ukraine’s Air Force conducted 12 sorties targeting enemy manpower and equipment clusters. A Merlin reconnaissance UAV was also shot down. Rocket and artillery units struck two manpower and weapons clusters, as well as an e-warfare station," the report stated.

No signs of enemy offensive groups being formed were detected in the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sectors. A comprehensive inspection of the combat readiness of the Belarus armed forces is underway.

Over the past day, the enemy fired at Sosnivka, Popivka, and Iskryskivka in Sumy region, as well as Okip, Bayrak, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, and Nesterne in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations near Sinkivka. Topoli, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Zakhidne in Kharkiv region came under enemy fire.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy undertook offensive efforts in the area north of Spirne, making no gains. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, and Ivanivka and Spirne in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut sector, fighting for the town of Bakhmut continues. In the area of Ivanivske and Predtechine, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations. Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Novodmytrivka, Pleshchyivka, Shcherbynivka, and Toretsk in Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka sector, unsuccessful enemy offensive attempts were registered in the areas of Novokalynove, Severne, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region. Occupiers fired at Keramik, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Netaylove, Pervomayske, and Karlivka.

Numerous attacks in the Maryinka sector were repelled in the vicinity of Maryinka. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

The Russians are on a defensive in the Zaporizhia and Kherson sectors. During the day, they fired more than 40 times at a number of localities, including Vremivka and Novopil in Donetsk region; Malynivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, and Orikhiv in Zaporizhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Zolota Balka, Beryslav, Lvove, Ivanivka, Mykilske, and Antonivka in Kherson region, as well as the city of Kherson.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ukrainian defense forces eliminated 182,660 Russian invaders from February 24, 2022 to April 17, 2023, according to the General Staff estimates.
