The enemy shelled Ukrainian positions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk areas 1,844 times during the past week, which is three times less than in February this year.

Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, head of the joint press center of the Defense Forces of Tavria area, said this during the nationwide news telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"The pace of the Russian military has decreased somewhat compared to February. It has decreased by a third. This week alone, the enemy shelled our positions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk directions 1,844 times - this is three times less compared to February. The most dangerous areas are the Avdiivka and Marinka directions," he said.

According to Dmytrashkivskyi, the Russian army actively continues to storm the Ukrainian positions. Russian forces inflict fire damage, using barrel artillery, MLRS, as well as aviation in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions.

"Positional battles are continuing in the Avdiivka direction. The enemy is trying to block Avdiivka and seize Marinka in order to move towards Kurakhove. However, the enemy has not succeeded in any direction. Therefore, the enemy is shelling the civilian population," he said.

According to Dmytrashkivskyi, amid fears of a counteroffensive, the Russians are setting up their positions, building fortifications and actively started to mine territories.

As reported by Ukrinform, a Russian airstrike killed a man in Orikhiv. The enemy also attacked Zaporizhzhia on the night of April 9, a man and a child were killed.
