War update: Ukraine repels over 50 Russian attacks

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on the offensive in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions, where Ukraine repelled more than 50 attacks.

That’s according to a morning update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions. Over the past day, thanks to the courage of each Ukrainian soldier, more than 50 enemy attacks in the indicated areas were repelled," the statement reads.

Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched four missile and 40 air strikes, with their MLR systems firing off 58 salvos at Ukraine’s military positions and civilian infrastructure of populated areas.

Further missile and air strikes are likely as the enemy doesn’t give up on its terror tactics.

In the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the operational situation saw no significant changes. No signs of any offensive groupings being formed were spotted.

The enemy will continue to maintain their military presence in Kursk and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine. In the border areas of Kursk region, the enemy continues to fortify the terrain.

During the past day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Gremyach, Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Baranivka, Bezsalivka, Volfine, Turya, Vysoke of the Sumy region, as well as Veterinarne, Graniv, Vilkhivka, Ternova, Staritsa, Vovchansk, Karaichne and Chugunivka settlements in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the settlements of Kolodiazne, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Krokhmalne, Kindrashivka, Pischane, and Berestove of Kharkiv region were hit by Russian fire.

On the Lyman axis, the Russians enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area south of Kuzmyne and Verkhnyokamianske. Cherneshchyna of Kharkiv region was hit by artillery fire, as well as Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka of Luhansk region; and Kolodyazi, Yampolivka, Torske, Siversk, Spirne of Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut axis, the enemy is running a continued offensive trying to take full control of the town of Bakhmut. In the past day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive efforts in the area of the Bohdanivka settlement. Units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces repulsed nearly 10 enemy attacks on the indicated section of the front. More than 15 settlements were affected by enemy shelling. Among them are Vasiukivka, Minkivka, Zaliznyanske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Khromove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochki, Bila Hora, Novodmytrivka, and Druzhba of Donetsk region.

The enemy pursued offensive action in the Avdiivka and Maryinka directions.

In the districts of Novokalynove, Severne, Pervomaiske, and Maryinka of Donetsk region, the assaults saw no success. The fiercest battles on the indicated part of the front continue for Maryinka, where more than 15 enemy attacks were repulsed. At the same time, Novokalynove, Kamianka, Stepove, Orlivka, Lastochkine, Avdiyivka, Severne, Netaylove, Karlivka, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, and Paraskoviivka of Donetsk region were subjected to enemy shelling.

During the day, the enemy ran no offensive operations in the Shakhtarske direction. They shelled the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Shakhtarske, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Novomayorske in Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy continues to fortifying defensive lines and positions. More than 40 settlements along the battle line were shelled, including Vremivka and Novopil of Donetsk region; Novosilka, Olhivske, Malinivka, Chervone, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Stepove, and Kamianske of Zaporizhzhia region; Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Beryslav, Kozatske, Mykolaivka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Komysany, Bilozerka, and Dniprovske of Kherson region, as well as Kherson.

Russian occupiers continue to strengthen counter-intelligence and policing measures in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. In particular, in the Hornostaivka district of Kherson region, raids are underway to check people’s phones for “forbidden” of “suspicious” content. During such inspections, the occupiers record personal data of local residents and selectively search their homes.

Ukraine’s Air Force carried out 12 strikes on Russia’s manpower and weapons clusters.

Rocket and artillery units struck two enemy clusters, an ammunition depot, position of anti-aircraft defense system, and five electronic warfare stations.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Forces from February 24, 2022 to April 8, 2023 eliminated 177,680 Russian invaders.
