The units of the State Border Guard Service as a part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the assault of Russia’s private military company Wagner Group at night. In particular, 29 invaders were eliminated and more than 40 were wounded.

"The enemy concentrated its main efforts on an attempt to break through the defense line in the industrial zone of the fortress city of Bakhmut. In this location, one of the strongholds of the border guards stood in the direction of the main attack of the enemy forces. The battle began in the evening, and the confrontation continued until late at night. At the fiercest moment of the battle, our position was attacked simultaneously by six groups of PMC Wagner stormtroopers. Ukrainian defenders were decimating the invaders with mortars, heavy machine guns, and sniper weapons. Our defenders threw dozens of fragmentation grenades at the mercenaries who were climbing through the ruins to the trenches in the nearby area," the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informs.

As noted, despite the superiority in manpower and the active use of artillery, the Russian military failed. The enemy lost 29 soldiers killed and at least 40 wounded.

As reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have eliminated about 176,240 Russian invaders since February 24, 2022.

The day before, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Marinka and Bakhmut in Donetsk region remained at the epicenter of combat operations. Ukrainian defenders repelled about 20 enemy attacks in the area of Bakhmut over the past day.
