Ukrainian Air Force launches eight strikes on Russian positions
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update as of 18:00 on April 2, Ukrinform reports.
"During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces launched eight strikes on areas where occupiers’ personnel and military equipment were concentrated, while units of missile forces and artillery hit an area of concentration of enemy manpower, a command post and two other important objects," the General Staff said.
Throughout the day, the Russian troops launched 5 missile attacks and 22 air strikes, as well as 42 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and the civilian infrastructure in populated area.
The General Staff stresses that the probability of missile attacks and air strikes across Ukraine remains high, because the enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war and continues to use terror tactics against the civilian population.
On Sunday, the Russian invaders struck Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, with two missiles and launched massive shelling using multiple launch rocket systems. As a result of enemy attacks, civilians were killed and injured, a children's preschool institution, high-rise buildings and private residential buildings were damaged.
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. The settlements of Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities.
"Due to the heroism and professionalism of our soldiers, skillful and coordinated actions, effective use of maneuvers, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled more than 50 enemy attacks during this day," the report says.
As Ukrinform reported, from February 24, 2022 to April 2, 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 174,550 Russian soldiers, including 560 invaders in the past day alone.
