Canadian instructors as part of the UNIFIER operation in partnership with Polish and Norwegian Armed Forces are training Ukrainian servicemen in the art of manning Leopard tanks.

That’s according to a Facebook posting by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which also uploaded photos provided by the Public Affairs Office of the Operation UNIFIER of the Canadian Armed Forces.

"Canadian Armed Forces soldiers from Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) of the @1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group / 1er Groupe-brigade mécanisé du Canada of the @3rd Canadian Division / 3e Division du Canada of the Canadian Army of the Canadian Armed Forces during Operation UNIFIER partnered with Polish Armed Forces Wojsko Polskie and Norwegian Armed Forces Forsvaret members to instruct Ukrainian recruits in Leopard tank fundamentals in Poland to ensure Ukrainian tank operators are well prepared to defend their country," the statement reads.

The training aims to help Ukraine “win back their land with more mobility and firepower.”

The Armed Forces expressed their gratitude for the help and support provided by foreign partners.

As reported earlier, Canada vowed to send Ukraine Leopard 2 tanks, four of which have already been delivered to Poland to make sure Ukrainian crews can start their training.
