Poland sends first Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine - media

Poland has already handed over the first Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki expected to announce this information during his visit to Kyiv on Friday, February 24.

The PAP news outlet learned this from sources in the Polish government, Ukrinform reports with reference to Wnp.pl.

"Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will announce in Kyiv on Friday that Poland has already delivered the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine," the report said.

Earlier reports said that Poland planned to deliver to Ukraine a company of Leopard 2 tanks (14 tanks). Some 105 Ukrainian soldiers are undergoing training in the use of Leopard 2 tanks at the Świętoszów training area in southwest Poland. It is about 21 tank crews and tank maintenance personnel.
