Russian troops have concentrated their forces on the Bakhmut direction and are attempting to establish control over the Kostiantynivka-Bakhmut highway.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Bakhmut is remaining the main direction for the enemy’s offensive. In the past 24 hours, 124 strikes have been launched with different artillery pieces, and 54 record-breaking military clashes have occurred all over the direction. The enemy is trying to gain control over the Kostiantynivka-Bakhmut highway, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces are conducting counterbattery activities intended to reduce the enemy’s opportunity to inflict fire damage on the highway. The Defense Forces are able to deliver weapons, food and other necessary goods to Bakhmut, as well as evacuate the injured from near Bakhmut,” Cherevatyi told.

In his words, Russia has concentrated significant forces there, namely the Wagner Group’s mercenaries. Additionally, Russian armored infantry units are arriving, as well as some other units from the so-called 2nd Army Corps (‘LPR’).
