Some 300 Russian soldiers stripped of pay, can’t leave warzone despite contract ending

Nearly 300 Russian servicemen deployed in Luhansk region are not allowed to return home after their contracts expired, while their allowances have been discontinued.
That’s according to the latest war update by Ukraine’s General Staff, Ukrinform reports.
“As of January 9, three-month contracts expired for soldiers in one of the units of the occupiers’ force operating in Luhansk region. Due to this, nearly 300 servicemen have been stripped of allowances. At the same time, they are not being dismissed from service in the wake of the ongoing mobilization,” the report reads.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks near 14 settlements across Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
