War update: Ukraine Army repels all enemy attacks in Lyman and Avdiivka directions

Ukraine’s Defense Forces have repelled all attacks by Russian invaders in the Lyman and Avdiivka directions over the past day. Additionally, the Ukrainian military launched 11 air strikes on enemy positions.

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, Ukrainian air forces launched eight strikes on enemy personnel, ammunition and military equipment clusters, and three more strikes on Russian air defense missile system positions.

“Over the past day, within 30 minutes, the Air Force’s air defense and missile units destroyed three Russian Ka-52 attack helicopters, which were completing a mission near the Volnovakha district’s Yevhenivka in the Donetsk region. Near Bakhmut, Ukrainian defenders also shot down Russia’s Su-25,” the report states.

In addition, Ukraine’s missile and artillery units hit eight enemy clusters.

Meanwhile, Russian troops launched five missile strikes and 13 air strikes, and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) over 10 times. The enemy targeted civilian objects in the Donetsk region’s Kostiantynivka with missiles.

According to the General Staff, the threat of missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian invaders continue to conduct offensive actions, suffering heavy losses.

In the Lyman and Avdiivka directions, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions. All enemy attacks were repelled.

In the Kupiansk, Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian occupiers are holding defense.

In the Volyn, Polissia, Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the situation remained rather unchanged. No enemy offensive groupings were detected.

At the same time, Russian troops continue opening fire along the contact line. The enemy used tanks, mortars and artillery to attack over 30 settlements, including the Chernihiv region’s Huta-Studenetska, Buchky and Mykhalchyna Sloboda;  the Sumy region’s Novovasylivka, Sopych, Kucherivka, Studenok, Kozache, Boiaro-Lezhachi, Stukalivka, Vorozhba, Volfyne and Yunakivka; the Kharkiv region’s Basove, Huriv Kozachok, Veterynarne, Vesele, Vovchansk, Varvarivka and Hryhorivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian invaders shelled the Kharkiv region’s Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Kyslivka and Berestove, and the Luhansk region’s Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, Russian occupiers opened fire on the Luhansk region’s Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Chervonopopivka, Terny and Yampolivka.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy used tanks and the whole range of artillery pieces to attack over 20 settlements, namely the Donetsk region’s Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba, Maiorsk and New York.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops shelled the Donetsk region’s Novobakhmutivka, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka and Mykhailivka.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy used tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery to open fire on the Donetsk region’s Novoukrainka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Neskuchne and Velyka Novosilka.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian invaders struck over 20 settlements with tanks and artillery, including the Donetsk region’s Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Novosilka and Novopil, and the Zaporizhzhia region’s Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaipilske, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka and Vesele.

In the Kherson direction, Russians continue opening fire against civilians. The enemy used MLRS, cannon artillery and mortars to strike the Kherson region’s Havrylivka, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Zmiivka, Vesele, Burhunka, Antonivka, Dniprovske, and the city of Kherson.

According to the data from the General Staff, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russia continues concealed mobilization efforts, drafting Ukrainian citizens. In the city of Sevastopol, from January 20, 2023, Russian military commissariats were instructed to replenish combat losses at the expense of locals from the Black Sea Fleet’s units. All the civilian workers are forced to fill in forms, noting their military rank in reserve and the presence of driver’s license.

Meanwhile, according to the General Staff, Russian troops continue suffering heavy losses. Over 450 injured occupiers are undergoing treatment in local hospital in the Zaporizhzhia region’s temporarily occupied city of Dniprorudne. The Zaporizhzhoa region’s Vasylivka District Hospital is also full of injured Russian soldiers.
