Armed Forces of Ukraine repel enemy attacks near 20 settlements

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a morning update on Facebook on January 17, Ukrinform reports

"There is a high danger of further Russian air and missile strikes on objects throughout Ukraine. The enemy does not abandon their intentions to capture entire Donetsk region. They are conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions," the General Staff said

Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks in the areas of more than 20 settlements, including: Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Krasnopolivka, Sil, Soledar, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Pivnichne, Kamianka, Vodiane, Nevelske, Maryinka, Pobieda in Donetsk region.

"The enemy is attempting to improve their tactical position in the Kupiansk, Lyman and Novopavlivka directions, and continuing to hold defense in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions," the General Staff said.

It is noted that in the temporarily occupied territories, in the settlements of Zavodivka, Hornostaivka, and Kairy in Kherson region, the occupiers turned off the broadcast of all Ukrainian TV channels, and instead only Russian TV channels are available.

Over the pat day, units of the rocket troops and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit one command post, 11 areas of concentration of enemy manpower, one ammunition depot and one fuel depot.
