Ukrainian forces strike five Russian military personnel concentration areas – General Staff

Ukrainian rocket and artillery forces on January 3 struck two Russian command posts, five military personnel and equipment concentration areas, an ammunition depot and a UAV control point.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched seven missile strikes, 18 air strikes and carried out more than 85 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems, in particular, on the civilian infrastructure of the cities of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. There are civilian casualties. The threat remains of the enemy launching air and missile strikes throughout Ukraine," the report said.

According to the General Staff, the invaders are concentrating their efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut area and are trying to improve the tactical position of their troops in the Kupiansk, Lyman and Avdiivka areas. The enemy is defending in the Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions.

Over the past 24 hours, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks of outside the settlements of Stelmakhivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Soledar, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Maiorsk, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Pobieda and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the situation has not changed significantly, with the enemy maintaining a military presence in border areas. No signs of the formation of offensive groups have been recorded. Russian forcers shelled the areas of the settlements of Karpovychi, Leonivka and Hremiach in the Chernihiv region, Romashkove and Rozhkovychi in the Sumy region and Strilecha, Krasne, Zelene, Ternova, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk and Ambarne in the Kharkiv region.

More than 15 settlements were affected by fire in the Kupiansk and Lyman areas, including Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Kotliarivka and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region and Makiivka, Ploshchanka and Dibrova in the Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut and Avdiivka areas, the enemy shelled the areas of more than 25 settlements, including Kramatorsk, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Vodiane and Mariinka of the Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka area, the enemy attacked the areas of the settlements of Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Vuhledar and Mykilske in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy shelled the areas of more than 25 settlements. The Russians continue to target the civilian infrastructure of towns and villages along the right bank of the Dnipro River. The civilian infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson came under fire.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. On January 2, Ukrainian forces struck enemy positions outside the settlements of Tokmak, Melitopol, Berdiansk, Polohy and Vasylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Two ammunition depots and up to ten pieces of military equipment were destroyed, two bases of the occupiers were hit, and up to 260 Russian soldiers were killed and wounded.

"Throughout the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 12 strikes on the invaders' concentration areas and a strike on the position of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile system. Ukrainian rocket and artillery forces hit two command posts, five areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, an ammunition depot and a UAV control point of the occupiers," the report said.
