Ukraine forces hit two Russian control points, four clusters - General Staff

Missile and artillery forces of Ukraine’s Army throughout the day struck two control points and four clusters of enemy manpower.

That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"Russian occupiers continue to carry out full-scale armed aggression against our state. The enemy does not abandon its plans to advance to the administrative border of Donetsk region. The main efforts are focused on maintaining the offensive potential and replenishing losses," the statement reads.

In order to exert pressure on the Ukrainian population, the enemy launches out air and missile strikes. Also, the aggressor carries out artillery shelling of critical infrastructure and population centers across the territory of Ukraine, violating the norms of international humanitarian law, laws and customs of warfare.

On this day, the Russians carried out eight airstrikes and launched 18 MLRS attacks.

The threat of enemy air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure remains in place throughout Ukraine.

Trying to take full control of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the enemy is focusing its efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction. Russian invaders are trying to improve their tactical position in the Lyman and Avdiivka directions; they are strengthening the groups in the Novopavlivka direction at the expense of units transferred from the Kherson area.

The situation remains unchanged in the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna areas.

Russian invaders maintain military presence in the border regions of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. There were no signs of offensive groups being formed.

According to the General Staff, the enemy carried out shelling from the entire range of artillery in the areas of settlements of Strelecha, Krasne, Zelene, Ternova, Staritsa, Ogirtseve, Vovchansk, Karaichne, Okhrimivka, and Ambarne of Kharkiv region.

In other directions, the enemy is defending previously occupied lines, concentrating efforts on restraining the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The aggressor is also shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian targets along the contact line.

Areas of 14 settlements were shelled by mortars, barrel and jet artillery in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions. In particular, these include Novomlynsk, Tavilzhanka, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Kotlyarivka, Tabaivka, Pershotravneve of the Kharkiv region and Makiivka, Ploshanka, and Dibrova of Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions, the enemy fired at the positions of Ukrainian troops, using tanks and artillery of various types in the areas of more than 20 settlements. In particular, the enemy shelled Spirne, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Vodiane, and Maryinka in Donetsk region.

In the direction of Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked the areas of Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Vuhledar, and Mykilske in Donetsk region with tanks, mortars, barrel and jet artillery.

In the Zaporizhia and Kherson directions, the aggressor shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops with tanks and the entire range of artillery in the areas of more than 25 settlements.

Also, the Russian army does not stop shelling the civilian infrastructure of cities and towns along the right bank of the Dnipro River. The civilian infrastructure of Kherson, Molodizhne, Antonivka, and Beryslav of Kherson region was damaged by artillery shelling.

During the day, the Ukrainian Air Force carried out four strikes on areas where the Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment were amassed.

Mmissile and artillery units inflicted fire damage on two control points and four manpower and equipment clusters.

As Ukrinform reported, from February 24 to January 3, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 108,190 Russian soldiers, including 750 in the past day.
