Warsaw refutes Russian propaganda claims about 'Polish mercenaries' in Ukraine

Stanislaw Zaryn, the Polish government commissioner for the security of the country's information space, said this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"This topic is a constant element used in propaganda efforts in the Russian infosphere aimed at the Russian public," Zaryn wrote.

He added that this time Kremlin political scientist Alexei Podberyozkin touched on the "problem" of mass casualties among Polish volunteers. In particular, he suggested "sending the bodies of Poles from the front in Ukraine to the Polish Embassy in Moscow" or creating a special cemetery for Poles in the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine.

Zaryn said that the Russian propagandist is spreading the lie that "whole military units from Poland, dressed in Ukrainian uniforms, and not individual volunteers, are taking part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine."

Zaryn stated that Russian "experts" spreading a false narrative about units of Polish servicemen fighting in Ukraine fits into the Kremlin's efforts to portray Poland as a "warmonger participating in the prolongation of the conflict."
