Defense forces shot down all 44 Shahed drones attacking Ukraine yesterday

Over the past 24 hours, Russia launched 51 airstrikes on Ukraine, particularly using 44 Shahed-136 UAVs. All of them were shot down by units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06:00, January 2, published on Facebook.

"Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 51 airstrikes, particularly using 44 Shahed-136 UAVs. All of them were shot down by units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Information about the night attack on the capital will be released a bit later. The enemy also launched 55 MLRS attacks, including at the children's hospital in Kherson city," the report reads.

The enemy continues to focus its efforts on conducting offensive operations in Bakhmut direction, improving the tactical position of its units in Kupyansk, Lyman, and Avdiivka directions. In Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, the occupiers defend the previously captured lines. In Kherson direction, the Russian troops regroup, defend, shell the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian objects along the contact line.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian troops repelled the enemy attacks near Stelmakhivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Rozdolivka, Bilohorivka, Soledar, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Ozerianivka, Opytne, and Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region.

No signs of the formation of the enemy offensive groups were detected in Volyn, Polissia, Siversky, and Slobozhansky directions.

In Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the area of Leonivka in Chernihiv region; Vilna Sloboda, Esman, Katerynivka, Shalyhine in Sumy region; Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, and Novomlynsk in Kharkiv region came under mortar and artillery fire.

In Kupyansk direction, the enemy shelled the areas of more than 15 settlements, including Andriivka, Kupyansk, Kucherivka, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana, Orlianske, Kyslivka and Kotliarivka in Kharkiv region; Novoselivka, Myasozharivka in Luhansk region.

In Lyman direction, enemy attacks were recorded near Novoyehorivka, Ploshchanka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka in Luhansk region; Terny and Dibrova in Donetsk region.

In Bakhmut direction, more than 15 settlements were struck, particularly Berestove, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Stupochky, Bila Hora, Kostiantynivka and Dyliivka in Donetsk region. The enemy also launched an airstrike near Bilohorivka.

Vodiane, Heorhiyivka, Marinka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under fire in Avdiivka direction.

Neskuchne, Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka, and Vuhledar in Donetsk region were struck in Novopavlivka direction.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, shelling from tanks, mortars, and barrel artillery was recorded in the areas of Novosilka and Novopil settlements in Donetsk region and Olhivske, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Musiivka in Zaporizhzhia region.

In Kherson direction, the civilian infrastructure of Tiahynka, Novotiahynka, Poniativka, Daryivka, Sadove, Stanislav, and Kherson suffered from enemy shelling.

A strike on enemy manpower and equipment clusters in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region on December 31 was confirmed. In the areas of Tarasivka, Basan, Polohy, Berdiansk, Tokmak, the enemy lost more than 175 servicemen wounded. An ammunition depot and 12 units of weapons and military equipment of various types were destroyed. Information on eliminated occupiers is being clarified.

Ukraine’s Air Force launched 13 strikes on enemy clusters. Missile and artillery units hit five enemy manpower and military equipment clusters over the past day.

As reported, about 400 occupiers were killed and about 300 more were wounded in occupied Makiivka, Donetsk region, on New Year's Eve.
