Some 950,000 refugees from Ukraine currently stay in Poland, and there are about 2.3 million Ukrainian citizens in the country.

Deputy Chairman of the Polish Development Fund (PFR) Bartosz Marczuk said this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

He said that according to the PESEL database (identification code in Poland), as of today, there are 950,000 war refugees from Ukraine in Poland, which is 400,000 fewer than in the summer. Given that before the war there were 1.2-1.3 million Ukrainians in Poland, the total number of Ukrainian citizens staying in Poland today is 2.3 million.

According to him, 90% of war refugees from Ukraine who stay in Poland are women and children. In total, those who arrived in Poland after February 24 make up 2.5% of the total population of Poland. The largest number of Ukrainians fleeing the war in Ukraine live in the Lower Silesian (Wroclaw) and Masovian (Warsaw) voivodeships.

Marczuk said that about 60-70% of adult refugees from Ukraine (320,000 out of 450,000) had already been employed in Poland.

"This is a very high level of employment. It can be estimated that about 4 billion zlotys ($900 million) will go to the budget from taxes and social deductions in 2022, and about 6 billion zlotys (over $1.3 billion) will be received in 2023," Marczuk said.

He noted that the overall financial balance of expenses and revenues in the country's budget regarding Ukrainians who arrived in Poland after February 24 was negative at minus 1.45 billion zlotys (approximately $330 million). However, in 2023, this balance will be positive at plus 1.1 billion zlotys ($250 million).

According to the Polish official, Ukrainian war refugees are evenly distributed throughout Poland, with no excessive concentration of them in one or another region of the country.

Since February 24, Russia has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine.
