Russian troops are attempting to advance in the direction of Bakhmut and Avdiivka, whereas near Lyman, they are trying to improve their tactical position.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in an update published on Facebook.

In particular, the General Staff warned that the threat remains of the enemy launching air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure throughout Ukraine.

"The enemy, despite significant losses in manpower, does not stop offensive operations in the direction of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. It is trying to improve its tactical position in the Lyman area," the report said.

It was established that in connection with significant losses of enemy personnel in the Luhansk region, there is an increase in cases of desertion of Russian servicemen and their leaving combat positions. According to the General Staff, in order to maintain control over the situation, the Russian military leadership increased the number of patrols to detain and return deserters to units.

Ukrainian rocket and artillery forces on December 27 hit the enemy's command post, six military personnel and equipment concentration areas, as well as an ammunition depot and another important military target.

Between February 24 and December 27, the Russian army lost about 103,220 soldiers in the full-scale war against Ukraine.
