The defense forces of Ukraine keep the border with Belarus under control, while no movement of Russian and Belarusian military equipment has been recorded directly near the border.

Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, announced this on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The situation on the border with Belarus remains fully controlled by Ukraine, our defense forces, including the State Border Guard Service. We are recording no movement of military equipment either of Russia or the Belarus army near the border, as they recently carried out a combat readiness check units. At the same time, of course, we must remain vigilant," he said.

Demchenko added that Belarus and Russia are further escalating the situation in the direction of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, so that the defense forces of Ukraine keep the necessary amount of forces to potentially repel further attempts at aggression in the area, rather than divert them to other directions where full-scale combat operations are being run.

In addition, Demchenko noted constant movement of equipment deep into the territory of Belarus. It is about the hardware of both Belarusian and Russian forces.

"On the other hand, as for the units of the Belarus armed forces, which have been strengthening positions at the border with Ukraine before, we are seeing no increase in their numbers or changes in the nature of their actions," the spokesperson added.

Demchenko recalled that Belarus is supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine, providing territory, airspace, infrastructure, and training grounds for the Russian armed forces, and running joint exercises.

Demchenko also assured the public that Ukraine’s defense forces are ready for any developments.

As reported by Ukrinform, the statement by the G7 foreign ministers, as well as the high representative of the European Union following their 12th meeting this year, among other things, contains a warning of additional sanctions should Minsk authorities more directly involve Belarus in Russia’s war on Ukraine.
