The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) recently visited the places of detention of Ukrainian POWs in the territory of the Russian Federation.

"A representative of the Coordination Headquarters reported that the ICRC the other day managed to get into the places of detention of our prisoners in the territory of the Russian Federation. The ICRC representatives do not disclose the location. Also, according to the ICRC data, about 120 Ukrainian defenders in captivity received warm clothes and hygiene products," the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War posted on Telegram.

As noted, this was discussed during an online meeting with the families of captured Azov Regiment members, who united in the NGO "Women of Steel".

During the meeting, the relatives complained that the letters did not reach the captured Azov Regiment members. Previously, there was an agreement that the ICRC would organize the sending of letters from relatives to prisoners recognized by Russia.

"Despite the fact that the ICRC interviewed our defenders when they left Azovstal steelworks, Russia does not officially recognize them as prisoners. Therefore, unfortunately, the letters will not be sent to the Azov Regiment members. We are working to fix it. At the last stage, letters to the Russian Federation are sent by the Russian Ministry of Defense – all responsibility for this issue rests with it. The released prisoners say that they did not receive letters from their relatives," said a representative of the National Information Bureau.
