The mission of Germany in the framework of Russia's war against Ukraine is to help restore the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Germany will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine for as long as necessary.

Brigadier General Christian Freudung, Commander of the German Defense Ministry’s Special Headquarters for Ukraine, spoke about this in an exclusive interview with Guildhall, Ukrinform reports.

“This war is a challenge to the entire Western world and a challenge to Western values. With all our hearts, we admire what the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing in defending these values and, I would say, fighting for our freedom, and therefore they deserve all the support we can provide,” he said.

“I am convinced that we must defend our freedom in unity, and that is why we support Ukraine financially, provide humanitarian assistance and military support. I think we should look at where we came from a year later, even half a year, or even a few months ago – it was unthinkable that we provide weapons, and today there are a lot of weapons being sent to a country that is at war. And we have been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the very first day of the war. We provide them with artillery systems, we provide them with air defense systems, we provide them with small arms, anti-tank weapons. We have sent over 21 million small arms cartridges. And I think it's a very, very strong commitment, and we're continuing where we started. You know that there is a list that is in the public domain. And we are committed to what we are doing and we will continue our commitment and support the Armed Forces of Ukraine for as long as necessary,” Briad General Christian Freudung said.

“Our mission is very simple – we seek to contribute to the restoration of the territorial integrity and political sovereignty of Ukraine, with all our hearts," the general concluded.

It should be recalled that in early December, Germany announced the transfer of a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, which included seven Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery mounts, sea surface drones, and vehicles.
