The Russian invaders are constantly trying to regain lost positions in the Kupiansk direction of Kharkiv region.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said this during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Our Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting active combat operations in the Kupiansk direction, where the enemy is constantly trying to counterattack and regain the earlier lost positions," Syniehubov said.

He noted that settlements in the Kupiansk, Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Izium districts of Kharkiv region are constantly under enemy shelling.

As reported by Ukrinform, combat actions are ongoing in Kharkiv region for the liberation of 29 settlements. According to military observers, the Russian army will continue to fight for this percentage of the territory that remains occupied, since without this part of Kharkiv region it will be impossible to keep Svatove in Luhansk region.

The British Defense Ministry in its intelligence update on Monday said that Russian troops are likely to prioritize retaining control of the Svatove sector as the area is now the invaders’ most vulnerable operational flank.
