Russia conducting covert mobilization – Ukraine's General Staff

Russia is conducting a covert mobilization campaign despite the announcement that it has been completed.

Brigadier General Oleksii Hromov, deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this at a briefing on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Despite the Kremlin's claims about the completion of the mobilization, it is worth noting that it has become covert, and the publicity and showiness of the events have been curtailed. The military enlistment offices were instructed to continue the search for and recruitment of volunteers who would be willing to sign contracts for participation in the so-called "special military operation," Hromov said.

According to him, attempts are also being made in Russia to return to service the soldiers who were wounded and dismissed from the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces.

"In addition, in order to replenish junior officers, Russia's Ministry of Defense decided to speed up the training of cadets in their final years of study. In particular, the graduation date was moved from June 2023 to December of the current year," the brigadier general said.

On October 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin that the planned number of reservists - 300,000 people - had been called up as part of a "partial mobilization" announced in Russia, and their deployment to the army had been completed.

Putin said at a press conference that mobilization measures in Russia had been completed.
