General Staff: Russia has fired 154 missiles at Ukraine since Oct 10

"The analysis of the enemy's use of missile weapons over the past period shows a sharp and significant increase in its intensity. Since October 10, the enemy has launched 154 missiles across the territory of Ukraine, a sevenfold increase compared to the first ten days of the month. For the first ten days, 21 missiles were launched," Oleksiy Hromov, deputy chief of the main operational department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He also emphasized that the enemy used air-launched missiles mainly.

"Air-launched cruise missiles have become the main type of missile weapons used by the enemy lately. At the same time, during the previous period, the use of these missiles was not noted at all. The number of missiles fired – 83 – exceeded the number of missiles of this type used in the previous four months – June, July, August, and September. Only 43 missiles were used in that period," Hromov said.

Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles accounted for almost a third – 29% – of the missiles fired, while they were not used during the previous period as well. The enemy also increased the intensity of the use of land-based cruise missiles as eight missiles were fired. At the same time, in the previous period, only one missile of this type was used.

The representative of the General Staff stressed that the effectiveness of the Ukrainian air defense units remained at a sufficiently high level. In particular, 64% of the missiles fired – 81 missiles out of 126– were destroyed.

Hromov also pointed out the increased use of Shahed-136 drones by the enemy.

"Since October 10, the enemy has used 176 unmanned aerial vehicles against objects in the territory of Ukraine, a 2.5-fold increase compared to the previous ten days," Hromov said.

He added that 65 enemy drones were targeted at objects in Kyiv city. Almost half of them – 27 units – were launched from the territory of Belarus.

As of the morning of October 20, the Russian army launched massive attacks on eight regions of Ukraine over the past day, killing and injuring civilians.
