The bodies of 22 civilians and 17 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been exhumed from a mass burial site near the recaptured city of Izium in the Kharkiv region.

The press service of the National Police of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.

"Police investigators, along with forensic experts and prosecutors, have begun to work at the mass burial site near Izium. At this time, investigators have exhumed 22 dead civilians and 17 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the mass grave," the report said.

According to the report, most graves are only numbered, so law enforcement officers have to establish who exactly died and under what circumstances.
