Russia attacking Ukraine with air and missile strikes – General Staff

Russian troops continue to launch air and missile strikes on military and civilian objects all over Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook as of 06:00 p.m., August 24, 2022, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi directions, the situation remained rather unchanged. In the Siverskyi direction, Russian troops used cannon artillery to open fire on Sumy Region’s Tovstodubove, Shevchenkove and Zapsillia.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian invaders used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire on Kharkiv, Svitlychne, Slatyne, Ruski Tyshky and 20 more settlements. The enemy launched air strikes near Verkhnii Saltiv, Pryshyb, Rubizhne and Odnorobivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, Russian occupiers used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire on Sloviansk, Dolyna, Brazhkivka, Bohorodychne, Krasnopilla, Kostiantynivka and Dibrivne. The enemy attempted to launch an offensive in the direction of Nova Dmytrivka but failed.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops launched artillery strikes near Siversk, Hryhorivka, Spirne, Ivano-Darivka and Verkhniokamianske.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian invaders used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near Kostiantynivka, Bakhmut, Soledar, Vesela Dolyna, Bakhmutske, Maiorsk, Shumy, Zaitseve, Vasiukivka, Kodema, Bilohorivka and Yakovlivka. The enemy attempted to destroy important objects near Soledar and Bakhmut with air strikes.

Russian occupiers tried to improve their tactical position in the direction of Soledar, Bakhmutske and Kodema. They were repulsed and retreated.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near Avdiivka, Oleksandropil, Opytne, Vodiane, Novobakhmutivka, Krasnohorivka and Nevelske. The enemy launched air strikes on Marinka, Oleksandropil and Vodiane.

With offensive and assault actions, Russian occupiers once again tried to establish control over Pisky and Nevelske. Traditionally, they failed, suffered losses and retreated.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Volodymyrivka, Pavlivka and Novomaiorskyi.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled the enemy’s offensive in the direction of Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Pavlivka and Velyka Novosilka.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian invaders used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near Novopole, Mali Shcherbaky, Orikhiv and 15 more settlements. The enemy launched air strikes near Novosilka, Poltavka, Novopole and Dorozhnianka.

Russia’s naval group in the Black and the Sea of Azov continues to block civilian shipping in the north-western part of the Black Sea and launch missile strikes on military and infrastructure facilities deep into the territory of Ukraine.

In the Southern Bug direction, in order to restrain Ukrainian forces, Russian troops opened fire all over the contact line with the available weapons. The enemy launched air strikes near Trudoliubivka, Andriivka, Potiomkyne, Oleksandrivka, Lozove, Velyke Artakove and Bila Krynytsia.

Russian invaders attempted to attack in the direction of Mykolaivka but failed. The Ukrainian military inflicted losses on enemy troops and pushed them back.
