Ukrainian defenders forced enemy to retreat in four directions

The Armed Forces of Ukraine forced the Russian troops to retreat in the Sloviansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and South Buh directions and stopped an assault attempt in Novopavlivske. In some directions, the enemy gained partial success.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in an operational update as of 18:00, August 21, on its Facebook page.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the situation has not undergone significant changes. In the Siverskyi direction, the enemy conducts rotation of separate units in the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk regions.

The enemy used barrel artillery to shell the areas of Muravii and Zaliznyi Mist settlements of Chernihiv region and Budka and Iskryskivshchyna of Sumy region. According to available information, the enemy is closing certain sections of the airspace over Lipetsk, Voronezh and Belgorod regions in the period from August 22 to 25 of this year.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy deployed tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of Prudianka, Nove, Ruski Tyshky, Peremoha, Staryi Saltiv, Korobochkyne, Slobozhanske, and Velyki Prokhody. Enemy airstrikes hit the areas near Staryi Saltov and Husarivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, artillery shelling was recorded near Krasnopillia, Chervone and Dolyna. The enemy replenishes ammunition stocks. The enemy also carried out combat reconnaissance in the Petropillia-Dmytrivka, Pasika-Bohorodychne direction, but had no success and retreated.

Russian forces attempted to conduct assault and offensive operations in the Brazhkivka-Nova Dmytrivka, Dovhenke-Dolyna, Sulyhivka-Dibrivne and Petropillia-Karnaukhivka directions, but suffered losses and retreated.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy continued shelling areas of Mykolaivka, Siversk, Spirne and Ivano-Daryivka.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy deployed artillery of various calibers near Bakhmut, Yakovlivka, Vesela Dolyna and Kodema, and aviation operated near Zaitseve, Bakhmut and Soledar. The enemy also waged offensive battles in the Pokrovske-Bakhmutske, Semihirya-Zaitseve, Novoselivka-New York directions, but it was repulsed and retreated.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops used barrel and rocket artillery to shell Avdiivka, Mariinka, and Piskv districts. Airstrikes hit the areas near Mariinka, Vodiane and Krasnohorivka. The enemy attempted to conduct combat reconnaissance in the direction of Spartak-Opytne, but failed and retreated.

Russian troops attempted offensive and assault operations to improve the tactical position in the directions Novoselivka Druha-Krasnohorivka, Vesele-Pisky, Oleksandrivka-Mariinka. Having suffered losses, the enemy retreated.

In the Lozivskyi-Pisky direction, enemy units have partial success.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the invaders shelled the areas of Pavlivka, Velyka Novosilka, Prechystivka, and Vuhledar. Aviation operated near Novomykhailivka. The enemy also attempted an offensive in the Luhansk-Pobieda direction but had no success.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy deployed barrel and rocket artillery near Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Burlatske and Novopil. Air strikes hit Huliaipole, Chervone and Novosilka.

In the Southern Buh direction, Russian troops used available means of fire damage to attack military and civilian facilitates along the contact line. The enemy carried out airstrikes near Olhyne, Novohryhorivka, Tavriyske and Lozove.
