Ukrinform
In Mariupol, a southern Ukrainian port city temporarily occupied by Russian troops, an assassination attempt has been made on the self-proclaimed "mayor" of the city, collaborator Kostiantyn Ivashchenko.

Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the Mariupol mayor, said this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.

"In Mariupol, there was an attempt on 'Gauleiter' Ivashchenko. Unfortunately, not very successful yet. But this is only the beginning," Andriushchenko wrote.

As reported, Russia's aggression caused one of the biggest humanitarian disasters in Mariupol. The city was almost completely destroyed by enemy shelling.

Mariupol is currently without a smooth supply of electricity, water, and natural gas. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, about 22,000 civilians have been killed in the city. More than 50,000 have been deported to Russia and to the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region.

Mariupol faces the threat of an environmental disaster and an outbreak of infectious diseases.

The Russian invaders declared collaborator Kostiantyn Ivashchenko the "mayor" of Mariupol and are creating a picture of "restoring life in the city."

Residents of the city are resisting the "authorities" - they distribute stickers and leaflets with Ukrainian symbols across the city.
