Armed Forces of Ukraine push Russian troops back in four directions
This is stated in the latest report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00, August 16, published on Facebook.
The Russian troops continue to focus their efforts on establishing full control over the territories of eastern Ukraine, holding the temporarily captured districts of Kherson region and part of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions, creating favorable conditions for resuming the offensive in certain directions, as well as blocking Ukraine's maritime communications in the Black Sea.
The enemy continues to launch air and missile strikes on civilian objects in the territory of Ukraine.
No signs of the formation of offensive groups of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus were observed in Volyn and Polissya directions. There is a threat of missile and air strikes from the territory of Belarus.
In Siversky direction, Russian troops opened artillery fire near Kamyanska Sloboda in Chernihiv region and Khodyne and Svarkove in Sumy region. Reconnaissance flights of enemy drones are ongoing.
In Kharkiv direction, the invaders struck the districts of Odnorobivka, Sosnivka, Duvanka, Dementiyivka, Pytomnyk, Ruska Lozova, Cherkaska Lozova, Cherkaski Tyshky, Petrivka, Verkhniy Saltiv, Mospanove, Ivanivka, Korobochkyne, and Chepil.
Russian troops launched airstrikes near Verkhniy Saltiv, Husarivka, and Sosnivka. The enemy planted mines remotely near Peremoha and Ukrainka.
In Slovyansk direction, the invaders used tanks, tube and rocket artillery to fire on the areas near Hrushuvakha, Krasnopillia, Virnopillia, Ridne, Mazanivka, and Dolyna.
The Russians used incendiary ammunition in the areas of Nova Dmytrivka and Dibrivne.
Near Mazanivka, the enemy tried to go on an offensive, but failed and retreated.
In Donetsk direction, Russian troops focus their main efforts on conducting active offensive and assault actions in Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, and Avdiivka directions.
In Kramatorsk direction, the enemy units fired from tube and rocket artillery on the areas of Kramatorsk, Verkhniokamyanske, Hryhorivka, Pereyizne, and Rozdolivka.
Near Ivano-Daryivka, the invaders conducted an unsuccessful assault with the support of aviation, suffered losses and retreated.
Enemy shelling of military and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Soledar, Shumy, Yakovlivka, and Mayorsk was recorded in Bakhmut direction.
Russian troops also launched airstrikes near Yakovlivka and Soledar. Near Vershyna, the enemy tried to conduct combat reconnaissance, but fled after coming under fire. Invaders’ offensive and assault actions in Soledar, Zaytseve, and Mayorsk areas ended in losses and retreat.
In Avdiivka direction, the enemy opened fire near Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropol, Vodiane, Opytne, Novokalynove, and Novobakhmutivka, and launched an airstrike near Marinka. The Russians also went on an offensive in Nevelske area. Hostilities continue.
In Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, artillery shelling was recorded near Volodymyrivka, Novoukrainka, Pavlivka, Vuhledar, Novosilka, Charivne, Vremivka, Kamyanske, Dorozhnianka, and Novopol.
The invaders carried out airstrikes near Novoandriyivka, Pavlivka, and Poltavka. The enemy is on the offensive near Novomykhailivka, hostilities continue.
In Southern Buh direction, the Russians focus their main efforts on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops and conducting aerial reconnaissance by drones.
The enemy continues to bombard the areas of Stepova Dolyna, Nova Zoria, Prybuzke, Shevchenko, Kyselivka, Blahodatne, Shyroke, Kobzartsi, Andriyivka, Dobrianka, Osokorivka, Potiomkyne, Trudoliubivka, Velyka Kostromka, and Chervonohryhorivka.
The invaders launched airstrikes in the areas of Posad-Pokrovske, Bila Krynytsia, and Lozova. An attempted offensive near Novohryhorivka ended for Russians in significant losses and retreat.
As reported, the defenders of Ukraine eliminated about 43,900 Russian soldiers from February 24 to August 16.
