The Ukrainian soldiers, who were taken from Azovstal into Russian captivity, legally defended the country, therefore the preparing of the so-called "Mariupol cages" for a sham trial is Russia’s official war crime.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, wrote on Twitter.

“All prisoners of war, and in particular the “Azovstal” defenders are combatants who legally defended their country. Therefore, the "Mariupol cages" – Russia’s official war crime.
