Ukraine Army’s raking fire forces enemy to chaotically retreat in Bakhmut direction

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As of 06:00 p.m., August 9, 2022, the situation remained rather unchanged in the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi directions.

In the Siverskyi direction, the enemy used cannon and rocket artillery near Chernihiv Region’s Mykolaivka and Sumy Region’s Katerynivka, Seredyna-Buda and Mezenivka.

In order to clarify the position of Ukrainian forces, Russian troops conducted air reconnaissance with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near Chernihiv Region’s Hai and Sumy Region’s Shalyhine.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian occupiers used tanks, cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near such settlements as Ridne, Sosnivka, Prudianka, Slatyne, Pytomnyk, Ruska Lozova, Petrivka, Chepil, Pechenihy and Slobozhanske. The enemy launched an air strike near Verkhnii Saltiv.

In the Donetsk direction, with the support of aviation, Russian troops are attempting to conduct assault actions in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions. In order to constrain Ukrainian forces and prevent them from regrouping, the enemy continues to systematically open fire along the contact line. The units of the Eastern Military District, operating in this direction, are regrouping.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy shelling was recorded near Maiaky, Hryhorivka, Pyskunivka, Verkhniokamianske, Platonivka and Serebrianka. Russian invaders launched an air strike near Hryhorivka.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian occupiers used artillery and tanks to open fire near such settlements as Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, Soledar, Zaitseve, Toretsk, Yakovlivka, Bilohorivka, Pokrovske, Kodema and Maiorsk. The enemy launched air strikes near Vershyna, Vesela Dolyna, Zaitseve, Dacha, Bakhmut, Yakovlivka and Spirne.

Near Spirne, Russian troops started assault operations, came under the Ukrainian Army’s raking fire and chaotically retreated.

Russian occupiers also tried to use reconnaissance groups near Ivano-Darivka, Vesele, Yakovlivka and Soledar. Ukrainian defenders inflicted fire damage on them, forcing them to change their plans and run away. The enemy’s losses are yet to be checked.

Russian invaders also tried to conduct reconnaissance in fighting near Pidhorodne and Bakhmut but failed and retreated.

In order to improve their tactical position, Russian troops launched an offensive in the directions of Yakovlivka, Bakhmut and Zaitseve, had no success and retreated with losses. The enemy has partial success in the direction of the village of Vershyna.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops opened fire near Avdiivka, Pisky, Nevelske, Netailove, Krasnohorivka and Novobakhmutivka. The enemy launched air strikes near Marinka, Krasnohorivka, Novoselivka and Avdiivka.

In order to improve their tactical position, Russian invaders conducted offensive battles near Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka and Pisky but had no success.

In the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, Russian troops used tanks and various artillery systems to open fire near Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Novomaiorske, Velyka Novosilka, Stepnohirsk, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky and Novosilka.

The enemy used aviation near Velyka Novosilka, Shcherbaky, Novosilka, Vuhledar and Pavlivka.

In the Southern Bug direction, Russian troops are focusing efforts to maintain the captured frontiers. The enemy’s use of combat aviation intensified.

Russian occupiers used tanks, cannon and rocket artillery to open fire on the city of Mykolaiv, as well as such settlements as Stepova Dolyna, Lymany, Shevchenkove, Myrne, Kyselivka, Shyroke, Zelenyi Hai, Bila Krynytsia, Nikopol, Kniazivka and Dobrianka. The enemy launched air strikes near Bila Krynytsia, Andriivka, Osokorivka and Olhyne. Russian invaders conducted air reconnaissance with UAVs near Bilohirka, Murakhivka, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenkove, Mykolaivka and Kobzartsi.

In the Black Sea, two enemy Kalibr missile carriers are remaining combat ready.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are firmly holding the defense and continue to successfully carry out fire missions, the General Staff added.
