Russia resorts to missile terror, as it fails to achieve goals on battlefield – Ukraine at OSCE

The Russian army has resorted to the tactics of terror against Ukrainian civilians, launching missile and artillery strikes on densely populated settlements, as they cannot achieve their goals on the battlefield.

The relevant statement was made by Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna, at a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Kharkiv and Mykolaiv are under continuous enemy fire. Let me remind you, these cities are densely populated, and indiscriminate attacks on them result only in casualties among civilians and critical infrastructure destructions. But, it is no coincidence, as we have been observing such tactics used by the Russian army for five months,” Tsymbaliuk said.

In his words, Russia continues to cause terror against the border areas of Sumy Region and Chernihiv Region, opening fire with mortars and cannon artillery across the state border. Generally, over the past day, Russian troops have struck 42 settlements in different regions of Ukraine.

“All these attacks once again prove that terror against civilians and the willful destruction of infrastructure is an integral element of the Russian aggression. Being unable to achieve its unlawful goals on ground, Moscow is focusing on terror,” Tsymbaliuk stressed.

At the same time, Russia has intensified its disinformation campaign, making attempts to disrupt arms supplies to Ukraine.

“Thanks to such supplies, Russia loses ammunition depots, command centers, military equipment and, thus, local initiative. Because of this, the Russian army cannot unrestrictedly use artillery for indiscriminate shelling, destroying everything in front of them. Therefore, Moscow is making every effort to stop such a vital military assistance to the Ukrainian people,” Tsymbaliuk noted.

Tsymbaliuk also pointed out Russia’s cynical attempts to persuade the world that “if the Ukrainian Army had stopped resistance and Ukrainian defenders had left cities, there would have been no losses and suffering in Ukraine”.

“But, we know well what happens, when the Russian army enters Ukrainian cities and villages. Murders, rapes, abductions, filtration, deportation – we have already seen all of this in Bucha, Irpin and other Ukrainian settlements after they were liberated,” Tsymbaliuk added.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are massively shelling and bombarding Ukrainian cities and villages. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are effectively countering enemy attacks and inflicting heavy losses on Russian invaders.
