Russian troops used the Kh-47M Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched missiles to strike military objects in Vinnytsia Region.

The relevant statement was made by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the Air Force Command, such missiles are carried mainly by the MiG-31 attack aircraft. The Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers can also be used for this purpose.

“It is the newest type of the missiles Russia has in service. After they were put into service in 2018, only several dozens of them were released. The Kh-47M warhead is 500 kg, and its speed is from 3,500 to over 12,000 km/h,” the report states,

The tactical and technical properties of the Kinzhal missiles do not allow the anti-aircraft defense systems used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to effectively detect and destroy them.

According to the Air Force Command, the enemy attempts to use such missiles against the extremely important targets only. Since February 24, 2022, the Kinzhal missiles have been fired just a few times.

A reminder that, in the evening of August 7, 2022, Russian troops launched missile strikes on military objects in Vinnytsia Region. Casualties were reported. The further details are yet to be checked.
