The Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia announced that it has decided to hand over to Ukraine four Su-25 attack aircraft.

This was reported by the local publication MKD, as seen by Ukrinform.

The country's defense officials reported that the planes had been in storage since 2003 and were not used by the nation’s army.

It should be noted that back in 2001, during the conflict in the Balkans, North Macedonia bought the said warplanes from Ukraine. Su-25s, designed to support infantry, have flown several sorties during the conflict to support the local security forces' ground operations.

Late July, North Macedonia handed over to Ukraine a batch of T-72 tanks, the exact number of which has not been reported. At the same time, according to open source data, the country's army had 31 armored vehicles of this type.

As Ukrinform reported earlier citing the National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications John Kirby, the U.S. Department of Defense is studying the possibility of sending fighter jets to Ukraine in the future.

The spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine earlier said that Ukrainian authorities were in talks with Western partners on supplies of warplanes and training of Ukrainian pilots.
