One killed in Russian strike on Kharkiv University

In Kharkiv, a security guard was killed in the university building, shelled by Russian invaders overnight Wednesday.

This was reported on Telegram by the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to Ukrinform.

"The investigation has learned that on July 6, at around 1 a.m., the military of the aggressor power shelled the Kyivsky district of Kharkiv. As a result of the shelling, the building of a local higher education facility suffered significant damage. A security guard, 40, was killed," the statement reads.

A pre-trial inquiry has been launched into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Police officers and prosecutors inspected the scene as a joint team. The case will later be forwarded to the Security Service (SBU) Office in Kharkiv region.

Memo. The Russian forces opened fire from the territory of Russia’s Belgorod region at the Novobavarskyi, Kyivskyi, and Osnovyanskyi districts of Kharkiv. The university building and part of the administrative premises were destroyed in the attack.

Over the past day, three people, including a two-year-old toddler, were injured by Russian shelling across Kharkiv region.
