Civilians killed in Russia’s shelling of Donetsk Region, Luhansk Region – update on situation across Ukraine

Three civilians have been killed in Russia’s shelling of Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region over the past day.

The relevant statement was made in a consolidated report from military and civil administrations on the situation across Ukraine as of 08:00, June 18, 2022, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In Luhansk Region, Russians launched air strikes on Syrotyne and Borivske, near Sievierodonetsk. Hostilities are underway in Sievierodonetsk. Further destructions were reported at the Azot plant. The enemy twice shelled the residential areas near the former Lysychansk-based plant Donsod. A total of 13 houses were destroyed in Hirske, and 14 more – in Vrubivka. Russian troops also fired at Metiolkine, Ustynivka, Mykolaivka, Bilohorivka, Voronove, Zolote and Troitske with cannon artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). With the support of artillery, Russians conducted assault operations near Nyrkove. Two civilians were killed.

In Donetsk Region, Russian invaders are continuously opening fire all over the contact line with small arms, tanks, artillery, mortars, Smerch and Grad MLRS, aviation. Twelve settlements came under enemy fire, including Avdiivka, New York, Zhelanne, Bakhmut, Netailove, Krasnohorivka. Russians caused damage to 18 detached houses, three apartment blocks, premises of Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant and other industrial enterprises, refilling station, culture hall, psychoneurological institution, secondary school, shop. One civilian was killed and four injured.

In Odesa Region, the enemy fired cruise missiles last night. Two Oniks cruise missiles were launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea, and the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units destroyed them in the air.

In Poltava Region, Russians again fired missiles at infrastructure facilities. This morning six Russian missiles have hit Kremenchuk Oil Refinery (standing idle). Two more missiles caused damage to a combined heat and power plant. No casualties were reported. Rescuers are working at the scene, extinguishing fire.

In Dnipropetrovsk Region, air raid sirens were ringing last night. The enemy opened fire on Kryvyi Rih District. Russians launched an artillery strike on the village of Velyka Kostromka. Reportedly, houses were damaged, but there were no casualties among civilians.

In Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi District, a 16-storey apartment block caught fire after Russia’s shelling last night. According to the preliminary data, no casualties were reported. Over the past day, Russia’s shelling has caused six fires in such districts of Kharkiv Region as Kharkiv, Lozova and Boohodukhiv. Residential houses and household buildings were on fire. One civilian was injured in Russia’s shelling of Ruska Lozova. Active hostilities are underway in the Izium direction. The Ukrainian defense forces liberated Dmytrivka, Izium District.

In Mykolaiv Region, the Shyrokove community came under enemy fire. No casualties were reported. Farm warehouses and three residential houses were destroyed. Russian troops continue to open fire on the Bereznehuvate community. The data on casualties and the damage caused is yet to be reported. During the day, the enemy was firing at the village of Parutyne. No casualties were reported. According to the preliminary data, cluster munities hit the area over 12 times.

In Kherson Region, due to hostilities at the border with other regions, the situation is remaining critical in such communities as Vysokopillia, Velyka Oleksandrivka and Novovorontsovka. Civilians were left without water, electricity, gas and medicines. Many privately-owned and infrastructure objects were destroyed.

In the rest of regions, the situation was relatively calm last night.
