In addition to the United States, more than 40 countries provide direct support to Ukraine in the field of defense.

That’s according to a statement by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, released on the occasion of the U.S. administration allocating $1 billion in military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"U.S. security assistance and that of more than 40 Allies and partners continue to strengthen Ukraine’s position to defend its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity," the statement said.

In addition, according to the head of the State Department, this contributes to secure Ukraine's victories on the battlefield, as well as ultimately strengthen its position at the negotiating table.

Blinken also recalled that the United States and other nations had imposed “powerful sanctions” on Russia, bolstered NATO's deterrence and defense on the eastern flank, and provided "historic levels of military and other assistance to Ukraine as it has bravely defended its territory and its freedom.”

As Ukrinform reported, on Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $1 billion.

According to the Pentagon, this includes guided munitions for MLR systems, additional M777 howitzers, tactical trucks to them, as well as 36,000 shells (155 mm). In addition, Ukraine will receive two Harpoon anti-ship systems, thousands of secure radios, night vision devices, thermal imaging sights, and other equipment. The funds were also allocated for training of the Ukrainian military, maintenance of equipment, and other military operations.
