New graves continue to appear in the yards of residential houses and at makeshift cemeteries in Mariupol.

"There are no official data on the death rate and causes in Mariupol. The occupiers have neither the equipment nor the reagents to conduct relevant analyzes and tests. At the same time, we observe a growing number of burials in yards and preparation of new graves by residents. New graves appear at makeshift cemeteries every day. The causes of death are unknown, but are non-violent," Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to Mariupol mayor, posted on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

He expressed hope that the risk of an epidemic would remain just a risk. However, he stated that the occupying power did not take any preventive measures.

"The only thing is that the occupiers have acknowledged the problem of reburial of the dead, which are buried in the courtyards of high-rise buildings. Most reburials take place in a mass grave in Manhush, so the official procedure takes from 8 to 10 days to pass through the circles of bureaucratic hell of the so-called ‘DPR” and their mortuary. At the same time, the causes of death are not being established," Andriushchenko noted.

As reported, Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko believes that dysentery, cholera and other dangerous infectious diseases could kill about 10,000 Mariupol residents by the end of the year.

Mariupol experiences one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes caused by Russia's aggression. The city was almost completely destroyed by enemy shelling.

Currently, Mariupol has no normal power, water and gas supplies. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, up to 22,000 civilians have died in the city. Today, more than 100,000 people stay in the blocked city. There is a threat of environmental and epidemic disasters.
