Russians take bodies together with concrete from under rubble to Mariupol landfills

The relevant statement was made by Mariupol City Council on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Houses are demolished without dismantling the rubble. The bodies of killed Mariupol residents are removed together with concrete. Then, Russian occupiers take them like garbage to Mariupol-based solid domestic waste landfills,” the report states.

Together with the debris, the bodies of victims are piled at the Livoberezhyi solid domestic waste landfill, as well as the Prymorskyi landfill which was taken out of service in 2008.

According to Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko, at first Russian occupiers were involving local residents in the dismantling of the rubble. But, as they saw the actual number of bodies recovered from under the rubble, they immediately dismissed the locals from such works, and the so-called DPR’s emergencies ministry came to clear the debris.

“Now they are not even attempting to recover the bodies. They are simply demolishing houses and removing the rubble together with the bodies of killed Mariupol residents, as the actual number of those who died under the rubble is frightening. There are 50-100 victims buried nearly under each destroyed house, and 1,300 apartment blocks were destroyed in Mariupol. Hence, the actual death toll, sadly, may be much higher than what we had reported,” Boichenko stressed.

A reminder that the Russian armed aggression caused one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in the city of Mariupol. Now the city is lying in ruins and has been left without normal electricity, water and gas supply services. About 22,000 civilians had been killed since the Russian invasion started.
