The Armed Forces of Ukraine have pushed the enemy back from two settlements in the Sievierodonetsk direction.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In the Sievierodonetsk direction, Ukrainian forces have thwarted the attempts by Russian occupiers to seize such settlements as Metiolkine and Bilohorivka. The enemy suffered losses and retreated. This morning, with the support of aviation, the enemy has been conducting assault operations within residential areas in the central part of Sievierodonetsk. Again, they are suffering losses. At the moment, active hostilities are underway,” Motuzianyk told.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders are preventing Russia’s attempts to push back Ukrainian forces from the captured frontiers and prepare for the further offensive. With the support of attack and combat aircrafts, the aggressor is opening fire nearly all over the contact line and trying to gain a foothold in the village of Komyshuvakha.

“In the Avdiivka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed an enemy attack in the direction of Krasnohorivka and pushed Russians back to their previous positions,” Motuzianyk noted.

According to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, five enemy attacks have been repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions over the past day. The Ukrainian military destroyed five Russian tanks, three artillery systems and two armored fighting vehicles. The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units shot down three Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles.
