The Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched tentative counterattacks in Sievierodonetsk, taking six Russian soldiers prisoner.

The relevant statement was made by Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Serhii Haidai on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Do not give up on Sievierodonetsk! The Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched tentative counterattacks and taken six militants prisoner,” Haidai wrote.

In his words, Russian invaders have seized about 80% of the city, including the eastern quarters. Battles are going on.

“On some streets, Ukrainian defenders have gained success, launched tentative counterattacks and taken six rashists prisoner. We are waiting for the information that will help us to push [Russian] orcs away from the city,” Haidai noted.

Haidai expressed confidence that the Ukrainian military would fight for Sievierodonetsk to the last.

“The entire free territory of Luhansk Region is under continuous enemy shelling. We manage to deliver humanitarian goods to many settlements and even evacuate civilians,” Haidai added.

Meanwhile, according to Haidai, Lysychansk is remaining Ukrainian controlled.

“In military terms, it is an advantageous position. The city is located on a hill, giving many opportunities. The defense of the city is strong,” Haidai explained.

A reminder that, according to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops were conducting assault operations in the Sievierodonetsk direction.
