Russians open fire on 39 settlements in JFO area, 14 civilians killed

Russian troops have opened fire on 39 settlements in Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region over the past day, leaving 14 civilians killed and 15 injured.

The relevant statement was made by the Joint Forces Task Force on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

All over the defense line, the Russian military used combat aviation, multiple launch rocket systems, cannon artillery, tanks, mortar systems, launching air and missile strikes on civil infrastructure facilities and residential areas.

As of 09:00 p.m., May 24, 2022, Russian troops opened fire on 39 settlements in Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region, having damaged and destroyed over 60 civilian objects, namely 50 residential houses, hospital, coke and chemical plant, railway station, construction base, shopping mall, police department, prosecutor’s office, power substation and garage cooperative.

“As a result, at least 14 civilians were killed and 15 received wounds and traumas of varying severity,” the report states.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military have repulsed nine enemy attacks in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area over the past day. Battles are still raging within six locations.

In particular, Ukrainian defenders destroyed three Russian tanks, eight artillery systems, 18 armored fighting vehicles, one special armored vehicle and one motor vehicle. The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units shot down one Russian ZALA micro air vehicle and six Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles.
