Mariupol City Council has shared a video, depicting the evacuation of Ukrainian defenders from the Mariupol-based Azovstal plant on May 16, 2022.

The relevant video was posted by Mariupol City Council on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The video shows the Ukrainian defenders leaving the area of the Azovstal steelworks without weapons. After they are checked by the Russian military, they get into white buses. The seriously wounded Ukrainian fighters are carried to buses on stretchers. In buses, military medics are bandaging those in need.

A reminder that, according to Ukrainian Defense Deputy Minister Hanna Maliar, more than 50 seriously wounded Ukrainian defenders were evacuated from the Mariupol-based Azovstal plant to a health facility in Novoazovsk on May 16, 2022. In addition, more than 200 people were taken via a humanitarian corridor to Olenivka.

In order to bring them home, a prisoner swap procedure will be carried out. As for the Ukrainian defenders remaining within the Azovstal plant, joint efforts are underway to rescue them too.
