About 600 wounded blocked at Azovstal in appalling conditions

About 600 wounded are blocked at Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol in appalling unsanitary conditions, without water, food and medicines.

"As for the wounded, the situation is very bad, there are about 600 of them. The conditions are just awful, everyone has probably seen the photos on social networks. Honestly, I can't convey the depressing situation in a hospital ... Roughly speaking, there is a huge gym, several dozen bunk beds, the rest lie on the floor. Fighters without limbs – some of them without arms, some – without legs, some – just with wounds – lie next to each other. There are complete unsanitary conditions: flies, smell," a representative of the Main Department of the National Police in Donetsk Region, call sign Police, who now stays at Azovstal, said at the air of nationwide telethon.

As noted, an operating room was destroyed during the latest bombardments. Now an operating table stands where the wounded lie. There are no more medicines. Too many people die because it is impossible to provide medical care to them.

There is almost no food and water left.

The policeman said that he, along with other defenders, searches for technical water and fuel at the steelworks and brings them to a hospital.

As reported, Ukraine negotiates the evacuation of 60 people from the Azovstal steelworks.
