Evacuation vehicle comes under enemy fire in Luhansk region

Despite Russian shelling that is ongoing in the area, 35 people managed to evacuate from Luhansk region. They are already heading to Dnipro.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Serhii Haidai announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“Thirty-four Lysychansk locals and a resident of the Popasna community are already on their way to Dnipro. Their evacuation vehicle came under fire,"  the head of the regional administration wrote.

He noted that people are evacuated from Luhansk region on a daily basis. On Friday, May 6, only three people from Sievierodonetsk were willing to leave town, while today 32 people decided to flee Lysychansk on Sunday, May 7.

“They are tired of constant shelling by Russia, as well as blackouts, gas and water outages. They have made their choice, and that choice is to live! Another two people were not making it on time to the meeting point but they were picked up along the way. It was an issue to save a resident of Komyshuvakha, the Popasna community. The car carrying the evacuee came under Russian fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt,’ said Serhii Haidai.

As reported, Luhansk region is under constant shelling by the Russian army. Multiple homes, infrastructure and educational facilities have been destroyed, and all hospitals in the area have sustained damage of varying degrees.

According to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration head, there are about 50,000 civilians in the region who refused to flee from hostilities.
