Russian forces damaged and destroyed about 400 branches of Ukraine’s national postal operator Ukrposhta, according to its CEO Ihor Smilianskyi.

"The occupiers damaged and destroyed about 400 branches. About 500 branches are located in the temporarily uncontrolled territories, some of them are also working," Smilianskyi said during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels.

He noted that negotiations are underway with the Russians to return the UAH 3 million that they stole from Ukrposhta in Melitopol.

According to Smilianskyi, more than 5,000 Ukrposhta post offices operated in Ukraine on April 16: 4,000 stationary (out of a total of 6,000) and 1,000 mobile.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
