Heads of Czech Republic and Poland parliaments visit liberated towns in Kyiv region

“Stefanchuk thanked Vystrčil and Grodzki, who were the first European parliamentarians to respond to his offer to visit Ukraine to see the consequences of the atrocities of Russian troops and the domination of the ‘Russian world’ with their own eyes,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informs.

"These are the first speakers who agreed to my offer to go to Ukraine and see for themselves what may be the results of flirting with Russia, pacifying the aggressor, what may be the consequences of silence. I really want to thank Poland and the Czech Republic, our friends who never kept silence. They have always been the first to speak about the need to resist Russia. We have the opportunity to see the genocide of the Ukrainian people, all possible and impossible war crimes with our own eyes. Everything is documented, recorded," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

He noted that the speakers of Georgia, Romania, and Switzerland had already expressed their readiness to visit Ukraine. Stefanchuk noted that the European colleagues demonstrated with their visits not only their support for Ukraine but also courage and devotion to the ideals of the good.

"In my deep conviction, the most effective communication is the communication between nations. And communication between nations is possible through communication with bodies representing nations – with parliaments… The parliaments of Poland and the Czech Republic are at the forefront of support for Ukraine. On behalf of the Parliament of Ukraine, I would like to thank you, your parliaments, for the decisions made, the weapons transferred, financial assistance, strong sanctions, and, of course, for your support for Ukraine on the path towards European integration," he added.

President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil expressed his readiness to tell those, who still have doubts about Russia's crimes in Ukraine, the truth about the terrible events.

"We consider Ukraine to be an independent and democratic country. Even in such circumstances, the Parliament of Ukraine works, the Ukrainian state functions. And we want to say that we highly respect your courage, your desire to live in an independent state. We in the Czech Republic, and I am sure that in Poland too, know that you are fighting not only for your own independence, for your own democracy, but also for ours. You are fighting here for the European values that made Europe prosperous," Vystrčil said.

Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Grodzki stressed that there could no justification for Russia's brutal aggression against a free and independent country simply because it seeks to join the family of European, free countries.

"This war must end as soon as possible ... Ukraine must be rebuilt as soon as possible, and all criminals must be punished duly. I deeply believe that the free world will be able to defeat civilization of death and neglect of human life thanks to the blood and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people," he said.

Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, Borodianka, and the entire Kyiv region were liberated from Russian invaders in early April. Mass killings of civilians by Russian troops have been recorded in liberated towns and villages. Among the victims of Russian war crimes were raped women, whose bodies tried to be burnt, killed local government officials, children, the elderly, and men. Many of them had their hands tied, there are traces of torture on their bodies. Victims were shot in the back of the head.
