31,000 people forcibly deported from Mariupol to so-called DPR, Russia

The Russian forces have forcibly deported 31,000 local residents from besieged Mariupol to the so-called DPR and the Russian Federation.

Mariupol City Council Vadym Boichenko said this on the air of FREEDOM, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Mariupol City Council’s channel on Telegram.

“As many as 31,000 people were forcibly deported to Russia or the so-called ‘DPR’. This is already verified data. Civilians are being removed from Mariupol to a filtration camp located in Novoazovsk. People have been waiting there for weeks. Filtration is very strict - fingerprints are taken, as well as biometrics. They force people to sign various documents," Boichenko said.

According to him, municipal employees or people working for government bodies are treated especially harshly.

As reported, the Russian aggression has caused one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes.. The invaders have been bombing unarmed residents and blocking humanitarian aid. According to Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko, the number of civilian casualties in Mariupol has reached about 5,000, including about 210 children.

About 130,000 civilians remain trapped in Mariupol besieged by Russian invaders.
